BOARD OF FIRE COMMISSIONERS DISTRICT #2
P.O. Box 896
Freehold, NJ 07728
For the first five years the members of our fire company raised all the money to support the fire company through donations and door to door fund raising drives.
In 1972 the members decided that it wasn’t feasible to go door to door for donations any longer, so they decided to ask the taxpayers of Freehold Township District #2 to allow the fire company to form the Board of Fire Commissioners. It was approved by a wide margin. So in 1972 the Commissioners were formed to oversee fire protection for the people, buildings and property of Freehold Township District #2.
The Board of Commissioners are a five (5) member group who are responsible for purchasing of apparatus, maintenance of apparatus, purchasing firefighting equipment for the trucks and gear for our members. They are also responsible for necessary insurance and firefighting training.
These two annex stations are owned and maintained by the Commissioners.
